What makes you think you need to do something to the crank?

Well, there are 50mm blocks/cranks and 55mm blocks/cranks, so depending on what you want to use you may/may not have to do anything there. Probably a good idea to just get matching parts and do a basic line hone.

It's much better to consult engine builders and machine shops than forums...

92-97 H22's were all 50mm mains, 98 had both 50 and 55mm mains for the H22A4, and for the F23/H23 cranks you're looking for 50mm to be a direct fit (strictly USDM stuff, not sure about non-US motors).

I suppose you could run H23 crank/rods with H22 pistons but I think you'll be popping out of the hole by a little bit so you would have to either machine the pistons or run a thicker head gasket to avoid piston/valve contact (if i remember correctly).

Honestly I think you'd be better off just simply stroking it with the H23 setup. If you're after a higher compression ratio, you could also consider milling the head a bit as opposed to running a thicker head gasket.
