Typer R windshield cracked :( needs replacing...question
I got a nice sized rock chip that immediately turned into a crack.
Before I start the process of replacing it, I have a question...Is the 2000 Type R's windshield the same as the GSR's? I thought I read somewhere that the R's windshield was slightly different. Are they Identical or different?
Thanks in advance for your help.

My windshield says somthing like honda temperlite on it dont know if that means it a lightweight one or not. All the PR material that comes with the car states it's lighter. However I know people in the uk are given a "heavy" Civic screen from most car window shops (much to their disgust)
The USDM windshields are exactly the same.
Sorry Exody, I still can't get used to not calling you B2finity...
You can try to demand Honda Glass from your insurance, thats what I'd do,,, Hell I got a cracked windshield and demanded a whole new car.
Good luck,
A.
I dont know about the US but here in Europe the glass is lighter then on USDM GSR Integra´s. Stupid kid smashed mine with a rock, I got a stupid aftermarket windscreen! Insurance company told me that they NEVER deal with the manufacturer or dealership when it comes to windshield
so stick firm on getting a real honda windshield!!

USDM = same windshield for all Integras. OEM is about $500-550. Fight for it. They will try to claim that the aftermarket is "Honda" glass. Tell them you want the "Honda" stamp to go along with your Honda glass.

I think my windscreen (oz) is half the thickness of the Integra VTi-R. It's a real bitch as smaller pebbles can cause chips easier..
How much weight is saved with this? Honda has used some really cheap alternative ways to making these cars lighter, plastic screws, thinner windscreens, though i suppose they have to in order to sell them for this price range.

I work for safelite autoglass and the oe brand and safelite brands are same thing just a couple ounces lighter. The winshield retails for about 500 but you can het itstalled for about 230. The shield # is FW 751. Some insurance companies don't even have a deductible on crack shields. Is it cracked or chipped no bigger than a quarter cuz that can be replaced.
