Default 99 si trade for 92 cx hatch, good trade or no?

Alright i have a 99 si stock with header and exhaust with 156k miles on her and needs a new head gasket and front windshield and front two tires and has some dents but nothing major and 16 inch trex wheels, lowering springs. and this guy wants to trade his 92 cx hatch 5-speed with a d16z6 vtec rebuilt with no miles with roll cage installed and a d-series greddy turbo kit not installed and suspension and about 200 cash and the hatch needs front windshield also, and the hatch has the holes in the bumber and one in the front for the drag. i have been askin around and one of my friend says not to do it but he is also wanting me to keep the si for IA but the turbo kit is worth about 3k and i am afraid i wouldn't get near that but i want to make sure i make a good decision here, have any more ? just ask thanks. and the hatch does not come with muffler but i making sure to make some kind of deal with that.

What kind of turbo kit?
And the fact your car needs a head gasket and his **** is rebuilt with a turbo kit is a selling point right there.
**** that pos em1, pick up a real car....
(as long as the rebuild was done right and the turbo kits good.)
Make sure you get it tuned if it is not.

greddy kits are ok but their not worth what people pay for them

and it sounds like he has more of a track car

would be a bad trade IMO, your si has more value than what his car has in it

and you'd lose ride quality

well the turbo is not on the car, he is selling it separately, and i would probably be selling the turbo kit and hatch after anyways, i figure i might get more money out of it?, and the motor is getting rebuilt in a shop he says and has a Warranty.

oh and another thing how can you tell if a turbo is blown, I have done some research on google but sometimes its not so trust worthy.

your SI alone is worth 4-5k alone easy
wheels and suspension - two bad tires = 800$

the 92 CX may have more body miles w/ z6 = 1500$ on a good day
non power locks, windows unless he says
greddy kit = brand new for 2000$ and is an overpriced turbo kit = is not worth the 2k the seller prolly wants it to be
anyone can drill holes into the bumper, just attracts thieves
and i cant price a roll cage but i only know that PROPERLY installed roll cages are worth some money

i'm sounding pretty one sided because i feel your making a bad deal, unless you love the look of EGs over your si, and want a bit more power. i'd trade only if he comes out with more than 200$ cash

yeah he says it's professional done installed role cage and no i like the look of si's better and i'm still not sure if it is a blown head gasket i just know my problem is in the head cause it misfires on cylinder 3 and timing and dis. ect is all good. I figured i could sell the hatch around 4k cause of the rebuilt motor or not? and turbo kit for 2k?

you couldn't sell the hatch for that. and not the turbo for that either.
A grand, 1500 most for the hatch. Maybe 300 or so for the Z6, they're not worth much. The cage would add a few hundred if done right. Maybe $1000 for the turbo kit, and that's pushing it. The Si is a nicer, more desirable, newer car. I love hatches, but equally equipped, I'd rather have the EM1.

You're better off keeping the SI unless you get a good chunk of change on top. The only thing the CX hatch has on top of your Si is weight. And that's at the cost of power windows, a passenger mirror, sound deadening, SOHC motor....

I personally wouldn't do the trade. I love my EM1. If you do decide to do the trade, I would recommend that you see the paperwork to see proof that the engine has a warranty. I wouldn't trust that turbo because you don't know if its blown or not, unless you have him install it before you meet up and test drive it. IMO, by the way. good luck on your decision.

Why don't you just get your SI fixed up. It sounds like the CX is a rolling shell. Not worth the trade imo.

alright thanks guys, i think i have enough opinions now not to trade. and the z6 would be running in the car and he was going to give me a y8 intake manifold which i am guessing I wouldn't get a lot of money out of it so I'm deciding to keep the si. If he offers more money then i will let you guys know thanks.

as a hatch owner... i would say keep the EM1 slowly rebuild it. and Join The EM1 Crew .... llike some other post said it would be a bad trade ... IMO u would be out of like 2grand if u were to go with it ... but ya.. good decision on keeping the EM1

Anybody miss the part where the EM1 was misfiring on cylinder 3?

And IMO Si's aren't worth that much anyways, unless they are stock. My buddy wanted like $8,000 for his original owner all documented EBP Si with 160k on the clock, best offer he got was $4,500.

Keep your EM1. Spend some money to fix it.
