Cant get fire
Hello all. I have a 90 hatch with a D16Z6 V-TEC. So it will turn over all day long and its gettin gas i can smell it. But it is gettin no fire to the plug wires. I just replaced the distributor and it still didnt work. What else could it be?
Where is what they refer to as an igniter at? in the distributor? and theres a screw on the bottom end of the distributor and it looks like there needs to be a ground or somethin there?
You said you replaced the dizzy. Did you get a totally new unit, or just some parts? Could be either the ingition coil (big black part on top under the dizzy cap) or the igniter (small square metal part underneath with 4 wires attached).
Also, check for oil in your spark plug chambers. If you have oil present, you need to replace the cam tower seals. I had that happen to me and it kept knocking out my coil and igniter. Drove me nuts for the longest time.

Yeah but even if they wasnt it would still get spark. I stuck a screwdriver in the no. 1 plug wire and nothin happened when i turned the motor. then i did it to all the rest... nothin
Double check all the wire connections to the dizzy, even the ones on the inside to the coil and ignitor. There should be two connections on the coil on top, 4 connections to the ignitor, and two wire harness connections to the outside of the dizzy body.
If you have no spark test the source first. The positive (+) coil wire should have 12v KOEO. If it does not you need to backtrace to the ecu. It is different for different vehicles, but generally your first step is the ignition control module (this may be the ecu itself), then the CKP sensor.
The (+) wire on the ignition control module should have a reference signal and a ground at minimum. While cranking, the ground should have an on off on off signal. If it does, then your problem is after that. If not, then test the CKP sensor. Again, one is a signal reference, and one is a ground that should go on off on off while cranking.
