i have a question i put a k20 swap in my 2001 civic lx. the k20 only has 75xxx miles and the car has 150xxx miles on it. i was wonderin wat i had to do to reduce the milage on the car
Buy a different cluster. It's illegal to roll-back mileage.
Legally, if you sell the car, you need to provide accurate mileage to the potential buyers.
If you replace the cluster, record how many miles are on it when you get it, then add what you put on it to the original cluster when you sell it.
Example:
Your car as 150,428 miles.
You buy a cluster with 79,924 miles.
You put 14,812 miles on the car before you decide to sell it.
The potential buyers need to know that the car actually has 165,240 miles, not the 94,736 miles that appear on the cluster. (you can also pay to have the mileage updated to the cars actual mileage)
Otherwise just leave it be, and add the additional miles from your cluster (after the k-swap) to what the engine already has on it. That way you can explain to people that the car has [insert number] of miles on it, but the engine only has [insert number] of miles on it.
