darton flanged sleeves
i was wondering if anyone made big power with these sleeves instead of the darton MID sleeves. I would love some input because i'm thinking about sleeving but not trying to break the bank. How much boost can these sleeves handle? Currently making 384 to the wheel on 19psi running pump gas. shooting for 500 on c16. please give me some info on the darton flanged sleeves.
The Darton flanged sleeve is still a great sleeve option. Theyre also Iron Ductile like the MIDs. 500hp isnt the limitation to those sleeves, you will be fine with those even if you throw more power than you plan to have.
Its not bad. LOL. its just an unprofessional competitor that wants to bad mouth another company. Users and consumers have an open opinion on their experience with a company, but when a competitor says something about another company, you have to see their motive behind it. And you know its obvious BASHING just for the sake of being a competitor. Where's the professionalism there. Shows the character of the person at that company.
I see, yeah the reason being was I bought a block from a friend with these sleeves. And got a little worried when he made that statement.

Whats the difference between these and MID's? Are these just liners or do the stock sleeves still need to be machined out and these pressed in?

I have Darton MID flanged sleeves installed on my b16, for almost 2 years now. No problems. I picked them because they post more information about there product online, I read up and concluded that the darton sleeves were the best choice.
a iron ductile liner might be alright but why spend that money on a liner when u can save a little more and just get it sleeved. GE has always been very helpful on every question i have asked them. But in the long run its your choice on what you want to run. Let us know how things go.
There's alot of history between competing companies throughout the years. Probably something most arent aware about. There was alot of back and forth before from the other company's rep. In the end it was all a matter of business ethics and the respect to each others' products. Darton themselves never had a bad word to say about any other competitor. Its not about getting butt hurt, but more about misinformation from the other manufacturer themselves. You wouldnt want someone else spreading rumors about your own business if it wasn't true. That's called Libel. Its simply a comment that expresses a negative image about another business.
Well back to actual information here:
There are 3 types of Darton Sleeves. (200 series), Flanged(300 series) and the MID(Modular Integrated Deck)
The Repair sleeves(liner as some call it) are still the same iron ductile sleeve as used in all the other Darton sleeves. The only difference between all of them are how they are installed and what they would be used for. The 200 series can be used for performance builds but are also used as repair sleeves. The only thing that they are not used for is big bore stuff when you need to go a few mm over the stock cylinder bores. Some machine shops also just use the 200 series if they only need to fix 1 cyl or 2.
So what you guys are saying as liners are also 200series sleeves. Theyre just not commonly used in high performance builds since most use the flanged or MID style.
The closed deck above shown is using a 200series sleeve which are common for performance builds in that engine because they dont have the open deck style. But an MID can still be used if the build is of a bigger bore or requires the MID flange design for big HP.
Just for information: Top Fuel, Funny Car all choose darton as their sleeve supplier. Darton also developed sleeves for the Genesis, GTR, EVO X, and countless other new engine platforms every year. They are not limited to designing Honda engine sleeves. There's alot of history behind the Honda sleeving industry that most dont know. And history will show from results and from backgrounds of many sleeves all come back to Darton. ERL, Benson, RS Machines, Justice Race Engines, Mazworx, and many others use Darton. Why? Because its the best.

If you were shopping for a pacemaker would you shop for the cheapest one as long as it works or would you try and buy the best quality pacemaker available? Your block is the heart of your engine....
The 300 series flanged sleeves are the same style sleeves we have been supplying Dart in their Honda blocks since they came out with them. Do you think Dart would use wind chimes for a sleeve? They wouldn't use GE..
