Trans fluid change?

Default Trans fluid change?

Wondering if I will kill my tranny if I change out the fluid. Its a 96 auto with 189K on it and I have no idea if the fluid has ever been changed. I've heard all the myths about not changing old fluid because the new fluid will kill your tranny.
Anyone do a high mile fluid change with good results? I was gonna use the honda z1 to do a drain and fill.

So, any suggestions?

Why would changing fluid hurt anything? All old fluid does is circulate particles that act as an abrasive and do more damage. Replace the fluid asap.

Remove dipstick for tranny
Remove plug
Drain / clean off magnet
Insert plug
Fill up w/ ~ 2.5 quarts of HONDA ATF
Put in dipstick
Drive 50-100 miles and repeat 2 more times.

I do a complete tranny flush, never had any problems. I dont do the drip and fill thing. Utube has a good vid. on DYI flush on 2001 accord.

I bought a 1 Owner 95 Accord w/ 206k on it, when i got it home and changed the fluid it was Brown & Gritty. 3 drain and fills its nice and red. It now has 240k gets a drain and fill every other oil change and shifts perfectly! I personally use Valvoline Maxlife ATF. I Have used it in 4 different Honda's and a Nissan w/ out any issuses.
