I have a Cdn 1997 ITR motor/trans and it does not have the vin's (And no they weren't drilled and removed, motor was pulled from a wrecked ITR) Unfortunatly I do not recall if there was vin's on the body panels but from was said by type911 and some infor posted on typerclub.com Canadian 1997 ITR's only have it on the firewall, windshield and door post decal.

The holes are there, in the transmission and block. Transmission the holes are threaded, couldn't tell on the block, I would have to pull the exhaust manifold.
I’ve owned 2 97 itrs here in Canada , yes the tranny does have a vin plate but overtime it falls off I lost both of mine those rivets are either pushed in and not threaded on the earlier trannys. The block did not have vin plate. There is still a way to tell if it’s 97 though serial number starts with 4 on 97 blocks. And no vins on panels only door jamb firewall and dash board

It seems many enthusiasts are selling/ buying these cars at increasing prices. Where does the value of a 97 cdm itr compare to a 97 usdm itr- both identical condition/mileage/history?

Correct Dave7 correct market cars fetch more as that’s where it was sold and intended to stay. USA cars imported to Canada fetch less and vice versa. But it it can work in favour with currency fluctuation just saying
. When usd $ was at the all time low thousands of cars were going over the border. Also the supply demand is greater in USA so used cars are valued lower there then in Canada.

Not really they are North American specs same cars. They are higher of value to a Canadian person wanting one. That would be my opinion as I once was trying to source a Canadian spec supra from USA. But still if a car had immigrated borders I think it’s value is higher where it’s original destination was destined. There are some benefits to this as You don’t have to deal with cluster speedometer swaps, being that either km/h is the bigger font or vice versa. No need to worry about this if they are digital with just press of a button , but we talking itr’s.
