Default 97 accord misfire and 3000 rpm limit

So my accord when it is wet outside, after driving a short while, starts to misfire and sputter to the point at which it will shut off when trying to start at a light. Other times it has a 3000 rpm redline at which gets SUPER annoying when going to pass or going uphills.

Just to clarify a couple things:

- car was swapped over to 5 spd
- still retains factory wiring harness and computer fer the auto
- this only happens when roads are wet or if it has been parked during a shower or blowing snow
- unibody is in excellent shape underneath, no rust holes or soft spots, driven every winter since 1997!!

EDIT**
- recently replaced rotor, cap and wires
- and yeah there is a smell of gas when the misfire occurs

Could be getting moisture in the distributor cap.

^^^ Or rotary button. Had the similar problem in my Prelude and it was actually the rotary button.

Might want to check wiring, If an injector clip is not connected to the ECU. you'll go into limp mode "misfire"

Is the car in limp mode? does it smell like gasonline everywhere?

More symptoms would be appreciated.

It's possible if a connection is not sealed, water will create a grounding effect, or shorting effect.

Smell like gas everywhere? runs like a lawnmower?

More symptoms please.

I feel like House

okay doc

so if im drivin, and i hit a large size puddle the car will immediately die in the spot, no matter if I try and jump start it or turn the key and it will stay dead fer about 10 mins...

Sounds like a wiring issue.
Something is shorting.

Do fuses blow? What else? More symptoms.

Have you checked the ignition switch??

Check Injector Clip Wiring...Goes to ECU...

Are you getting Check Engine Light? Do you know the codes?

Try running the car and carefully spraying around with a spray bottle of water. Maybe you can pinpoint the problem.

I am getting a CEL for "top dead center sensor". Like before, this only occurred during wet weather. I went for a drive today to make sure of it. I swapped the computers for the 5spd one, and the light remained off until it picked up my bad o2 sensor. I then waited for it to rain. Gave it some time for moisture to get to it, and at first everything was working top notch, until about 5 mins into the drive and while goin to pass somebody on the highway and when downshifting to 4th, rpms went to around 4k and had a dead throttle.

Where would I find the injector clip wiring? any pics for reference?

found my problem, crank sensor wires had been chafed a bit, causing a short when wet, got another sensor, works like a charm now
