Hello H-T recently I bought some CTR aftermarket pistons online for my GSR and I received the package and after getting the pistons and wrist pins inspected by 2 machine shops they said that there was a design flaw in the wrist pins. Some would fit loose and some tight. Question is is there any use of these pistons? They said that the wrist pins are designed specifically for that piston and that I might as well use them as decorations or throw them away. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
if 2 shops told you that, it's probably true. you might be able to have them machined larger along with the rods, but i don't know. that could cost as much as just buying more pistons.
can you tell us the brand and seller? i got some nippon ctr pistons from a cali seller and they're fine.

CTR pistons in a GsR motor is a fail. Your compression would be sitting around 13:1 and if you ran camshafts much bigger than stock ItR you would end up tapping the tops of the pistons with the valves.
A better route because the pistons are "unuseable" would be jdm ItR pistons with a mildly built head.

I bought them on ebay and the piston brand is YCP. I guess i took a loss but no biggie i'm sure we all do sometime. He also denied me a refund and ignored me and let ebay handle it and they took his side. But thanks for the suggestions I just went ahead and bought some Nippon itr pistons and they were good. I'll just find out a way to use these as decorations.

True. Thanks bro.

I vote using them as earrings and a matching necklace.
1998GSRIntegra, CTR pistons are fine in a cammed GSR with a high-lift low-duration grind, and if you're concerned about valve tap just retard the shafts a hair and you'll never see contact. NA doesn't need much overlap, I know Gude can make a reliable grind for it.
