Long story short, I ended up with a turbo kit with an unknown turbo. On the exhaust side it has a precision stamp A/R .63, intake side is A/R .70 and has EC-1 and M24 stamped on the actual housing. Also on the exhaust flange to the manifol it is stamped THGT3-52

A Precision 6152 aka sc61 I think, similar to a gt35r. It's a journal bearing and google says it tops out around 630whp, MSRP 850-900 bucks.

If you go on the Precision site you can look it up under small frame turbos by the exhaust housing number of thgt3-52. Then you can get the specific part number which is 300-6152 and google all kinds of info about it.

 

I'm seeing that as well. That's the small framed 61mm with the smaller stage 3 exhaust wheel. It won''t make 630whp, more like about 460whp -500whp when pushed. It looks like its been run rather hot to boot. Hopefully internally it is still intact well.

 

There's some not much shaftplay. It was on a k20 boosted ITR making 670hp.....

 

at the crank yes. And it definitely shows that it has reached its limits, too.

 

How can you tell it's been pushed hard? Is it the discoloration on the fins or exhaust housing or something?

 

Yes because of how white the turbine wheel is.

 

^^ Correct. Be careful. There are cases in which turbine failure could be cause by excessive heat (such as a case like this) in which turbine material fragments could literally have been thrown off at extremely high rotational speeds associated with these high temps. Remove the turbine housing and see if any of the blade tips of the inducer or exducer have a "burned" look to them. If they do, the material of the turbine wheel has been compromised and needs to be replaced. This high temp discoloration tells me that this turbo was pushed to the edge (and quite a bit lean, too)
