I just got walked!
Hello HT i have a Integra ls w/ a gsr tranny, dc headers, intake, and 2.5 inch pipping connected to a kudo exhaust, along with a stage 3 racing clutch. Long story short i just got walked by a 2001 stock h22 prelude lol. What can i do to make my car faster? i have a b16 head but im confused about wiring since my car is a 2000 obd2. Also my motor is lightly knocking and i can get a low mileage b20b from a jdm warehouse for 450. Should i get the b20 and make it b20vtec or rebuild my ls with p30's and try to make a badass ls vtec any help will be appreciated lol thanks

A 01 H22 prelude runs in the mid/high 14s pretty easily bone stock. They're quick. I owned one for a while and it really wasn't *that* much slower than my S2000 (maybe a few car lengths). A friend owned a 97 lude and ran like a 14.6 with an exhaust/intake and a flapping rear bumper from crash damage. I'm sure my stock 2000 prelude that I used to have was slightly faster than my current ITR....and again...not *that* much slower than my S2000.
Install a H22 in your integra. They're super cheap now a days. Then you'll be in business. The nice thing about those motors is that they make a MUCH nicer powerband than the B series. Or...buy a prelude. They're cheap now also.
I'm sure your current setup is putting down about 110-120whp. That's a far cry from the 170 or so WHP that the prelude puts down. If you compared power band "fatness", it becomes even more sad.
That GSR trans is also not the best gearing wise.

Im sure a GSR Teg would give that Lude a nice run for its money, and I see no reason an ITR couldnt handle it.
Anyway, I feel this thread getting closed soon because of the whole "bench racing" thing.
If you really want to be faster buy a lighter car, a hatch or a crx and add a b16 or gsr.

A prelude should walk your setup. Always remember, there is no replacement for displacement.
If you go b20 vtec, dont rev the **** out of it unless your going to open up the valve reliefs in the b20 pistons. If you are going to rev much higher than 8k your going to have to open them up. They arent big enough because a stock b20 doesnt have vtec. You will end up tapping the top of the pistons with the valves.
More relevant, seriously dude don't street race. I'm 16 with a mildly modded and tuned gsr and I don't even street race. Its just not smart in the long run.

Not bench racing since I've actually owned those cars. Plus, I gave you quarter mile times for comparision in my original post.
A 14.4-14.8 wouldn't surprise me from a bone stock bb6 prelude.
14.4 in a bone stock ITR means an AWESOME and surprising (not typical) run. The typical rice burglar will run a 14.6-15.0 in a stock ITR.
14.9-15.3 is "quick" stock GSR territory.
People who haven't owned a prelude have the state of mind that they're slow for some reason. They're pretty effin quick.
My drunken father: "You aughta just scrap that Honda [burp] junk. There's no replacement for cubic inch displacement..." [passes out].
Me: "Yes there is, it's called engineering."
Sadly the H22 has both, though Honda does make several other 200bhp engines less than 2.2L. (100 per liter, Japanese engineering FTW?)
I agree though, honestly id never go LS/B20 Vtec. Too unreliable for my taste.
And why spend big bucks when youll probably never actually even race it on a track or for money on the street.

All jokes aside i did not know preludes move like that lol. Its just funny becuase their so damn huge, i totally underestimated preludes. I guess im going to have to buy a hatch
I've owned a 94 and a 99 GSR coupe, a 98 GSR sedan, and I currently have an 01 ITR. FWIW, I used to drive a B18C-R swapped EM1 with a Endyn head (it's my GF's car now...so I still sort of own it because she has no idea WTF she's driving). I've also owned a 00 prelude. Completely bone stock. Trust me. The prelude was faster than all of them. It was SIGNIFICANTLY faster than my bolt on modded 99 GSR. And definitely a bit faster than my ITR and EM1.

Like I said, I saw a 14.6 with rear bumper flapping (hella drag), and just an intake/exhaust...with a 80 or 90k mile old clutch. But the elevation around here is 675 feet at the strip.
I have owned a b swapped teggy, and 3 preludes. The prelude's are exactly like B-serious described. Stock for stock, my 4th gen lude has always beat my friends ITR's. The powerbands are very different. Not to say I beat the ITR's by a huge distance, but a car length to 1 1/2 most races.

Here. I looked around a bit and no, I didn't see one stock H22 Prelude break 15. Sure, maybe if i looked through all 10 pages I would find one or two or maybe even more, but im not, there were plenty of 15 second+ Preludes on there to prove my point.
I'm not saying their slow, theyre just not 14 second material stock. Actually, according to that forum, the stock H22 Prelude runs 15.1.
Maybe youre a crazy good driver or maybe everyone else sucks though...

highly unlikely!, YOUR WAISTING MONEY TRYING TO GO FAST! just get a gsr swap or a ITR swap infact and see what a stock itr feels with some mods then tell us if thats enough. that motor is knocking and sounds like vtec is not wired in and also my guess is your not running on a tuned ecu! so save your self the time money and imbaresment and get a ITR swap and call it a day! then race all the slow *** preludes you want! just watch out for a hand full of real h22 builds....

whats the website for the b20 for 450?
that is sad. getting rid of your ride just because you lost to a prelude...really sad...and what if you lost to a different car with your hatch? gonna get rid of that too???
