I prefer using Sata's, but everyone has their own preference. Also, some guys use 2-3 different guns when painting. 1 for primer, 1 for base coat, and 1 for clear coat. Some good brands of guns are Sata, Iwata, and Devilbiss. As for a primer gun, I'd just pick up some cheap guns cause it's just primer and you're just gonna have to sand it anyways before painting. I have a Devilbiss GTI up for sale if you're interested.

Cool thanks that helped. how much are you selling that GTI for?

Also after getting the guns should I look into the nozzles? Or does most spray guns have adjustable nozzles?

I'm only selling the gun for $210shipped, and they normally cost around $300. I probably used it about 10-15 times mainly on bumpers and fenders cause I mainly use my Sata for painting. It comes with 3 nozzels 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5. I mainly used the 1.3 nozzle and everything still sprays like a champ with this gun.

As for nozzles themselves, every gun is different. Some of the higher brands you can only use with that brand. Some of the cheaper stuff is universal such as ones you get from Northern Tool, Wally World, Harbor Frieght...

Gorilla- search function?

Prelude- Yea I would be interested but how will we do the transaction.

Also so with primer using a walmart gun would be no prob either?

And how come you only use the 1.3? Whats the difference just how much it sprays out?

I accept paypal, MO's, or cashiers checks. As for the primer gun, the ones from walmart will work perfectly fine. Just be sure to clean them afterwards so that you can continue to use them. As for the tips, the bigger the tip, the more material that'll come out.

I stay away from Sata, my favorite gun is the DeVilbiss Finish Line series. Like said above, wal-mart guns are fine for primer. Make sure to adhere strictly to mixing requirements.

Paypal offers you protection, but the dude is a heavy poster on the site. Doubt he is going to screw you over.

Gorilla was telling you to use the search feature for your questions. Most of the questions you asked have already been answered, so it clutters up the forum with multiple threads covering the same topic. That's all.

Go to walmart and buy a cheap primer gun.

Please give more info instead of just saying you stay away from them. No one can make a judgement based off of that vague statement. Not being rude, but this guy is trying to learn.

I can't do that, I'd have to recieve a full payment, or you could do half now, then the other half when you can and then when I recieve that last payment, I can ship it out that same day. I do have plenty of vouchs on this site as well as other forums I visit, so you don't have to worry about me trying to scam you. Actually, if you google my screen name, it'll pop up on a lot of different forums..

As for tip size, it's really up to that person. I personally use 1.3 most of the time

for affordable guns, devilbiss starting or finishline series.
a cheap harbor freight gun for 20 bucks is good enough for primer.

Stay away from Sata? haha, I paint for a living and as prelude said Sata and Iwata are about the best of the best. The new Devilbiss CVi is badass. Whats your pricerange? Preludes gun is a good deal. Personally I base with a Iwata w-400 and clear with a Sata Jet2000 RP

30 gal will be fine. Just have to adjust your pressure to go somewhere between 35-40psi i believe. Someone post a good PSI.

Also, a cool investment that is cheap would be a pressure regulator that you install on the gun. Saves time if you need to finely adjust the pressure. Only costs about $10 maybe.

PM sent....As for the compressor, I have a 60 gallong tank I bought from Home Depot and it works great. A 30 gallon will probably work just fine, you'll probably just have to stop more often. I normally spray my base around 27-32psi and my clear around 25-27psi. I bought a digital gauge pressure regulator off ebay, and it works great. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Digit...motiveQ5fTools

Base coat, I usually spray a 2 light coats first, then go heavier for the 3rd and 4th. Wait about 10 min between each heavy coat just so the paint doesn't drip or winkle up.

Clear coat, you want the first coat to be light, then you go kind of heavy with the 2nd-3rd coat. Give it about 10-15 min between each heavy coat. I tend to spray 3-5 layers of clear, cause when you wet sand afterwards, you're gonna take at least 1 coat off.

hell yea they can be pricey. I bought mine used for around 340, but If you price the Iwatas, you're see that they're up there as well and I've always hears good things about them, especially for spraying candy paint. I picked up a lower line iwata and it's pretty decent

which places are best to shop for these spray guns? I am thinking about buying the equipment to save money and do a better job with my bumper resprays. I am tired of apying someone to paint the bumper and 2 days later rock chips all over as if they did not put enough base and clear on.
