96 Prelude Si 2.3L

I was driving and suddenly I see the check engine light on and within a second or two the car shuts off. I went and got my scanner and got the code P1382 cylinder position sensor. from what I understand this is inside the dizzy assemply? do I need a whole new dizzy or can I just replace the sensor? I called autozone and kragen and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about!!

any help appreciated, it broke down in the ghetto part of town dont want to have it parked there too long!

Check for broken wires/connectors first. Then, check for continuity (ohms) of those wire(s). If all the wires/connections are good you know it's the CYP sensor. I don't think it will come out of the housing but, if it does, you can't buy just that part. Try to find a used dizzy as they are $400-500 new.

 

actually I figured it out, my timing belt broke... wahhhhhh
