5th gear problem
Hey guys I have ? And a problem....I have a b16 tranny runs smooth no grinds or nothing only problem is 5th gears pops out...so a guy at a shop told me it was low on tranny fluid..so he added som for free..drove smooth with no problems for about 2 days..then the same thing 5th started piping out again...my question is can I go some wer to repair te tranny or is it just better to buy a new one???
Does the trans leak fluid?
If it is mechanical damage to the trans, you'll probably be looking at $250-$350 in parts to fix it 100% plus labor which varies from place to place. B16 transmission go for at least $400, if you can find one.

Then it probably is damage to the physical components.
Could be a synchro spring missing and it'll be under $10. Or it could be gear, sleeve, hub, shift fork, etc. leading to $300+ all causing it to fall out. No way to tell until it's opened up and you can visually inspect it.

I'd go ahead and have it fixed. A used trans is good shape is getting hard to come by now. If it was low on fluid, the 5/R sleeve assembly and top MS/CS bearings will likely need to be replaced.
Yea I calls a shop and I'm taking it tuesday morning 6 flags tomorrow
