Default Advice Needed - Do I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator

HI everyone...

My current setup on my F20B2 (SOHC non-vtec) is just the usually I/H/E..
I have a custom Bisimoto level 1.5 cam ready to install, but I can't do that without dyno tuning shortly after..

So, I have my APEXi SAFCII installed (I cant use a chipped ECU with auto trans) and the prospective dyno tuner is telling me that I will need an adjustable fuel regulator to tune properly...
However, I am not sure seeing as the fuel pump and injectors are currently stock.. I also can't see myself maxing out the current stock injectors with my only major mod being the cam..

Do you all think I need the AFPR? If so, what brand do you recommend?

I appreciate the advice slomofo, any chance you can elaborate? I have been told that these piggyback units are good at leaning out the mixture but not so good at making it richer, which is why he suggested the AFPR...

In my mind however, I didnt expect to need THAT much more fuel pressure based on the minor mods...

Poke holes in the vacuum line going to the regulator until the desired pressure is achieved.

But what happens if I wanted to then lower the pressure? This seems like a pretty irreversible step..

Why would I need to adjust incoming fuel pressure myself? Shouldnt the ECU compensate for that and do it automatically? Especially considering my modification is not that heavy at all..

While I appreciate the smiley happiness, care to elaborate on why I would and would not need an AFPR?

When would it then be considered necessary?

You do not need a regulator also you don't need that safc, Maby if you were boosted it might have some use.remember Function over fashion and good luck.

So how do you propose I tune after I install my Bisimoto cam without using the SAFC?
It has nothing to do with fashion, but as I said, I cannot use a chipped ECU, so I need a piggyback solution....

So, you all tell me that I don't need the regulator but no one is offering any reason as to WHY... Care to share some knowledge concerning that? When will it be needed, when will it not?
