1993 honda accord
I have a 1993 Honda Accord with 139,000 miles and has been taken care of and always garaged. I have a problem that has popped up with the transmission or the electronics that control it. When the car is put into gear, the indicator lights on the dash shows that its in second and drive at the same time, but the transmission is actually in second and will not shift out into any other gear. It doesn't do it all the time, but when it does i cannot get above 30 safely without over revving the engine. The fluid was changed about 15,000 miles ago, so don't think thats it. The transmission shifts great otherwise when the two lights are not on, so wondering about the electronics that control it. anyway, i'm not an expert, so does anyone know what might be the problem. any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Honda wants you to check and/or replace the fluid every 30K. Was the old fluid nasty? If so, the detergents in the new fluid probably ruined your tranny.
The first thing to do is to check for codes. Look in the FAQs for the procedure.

Does it only do this when it's raining outside? Do you not know? I had a 92 Accord that did the same thing and only done it when it was raining out. Never did find out what was wrong with it though since I totaled it before I diagnosed it. Thank God. automatics suck anyway
