JDM D15b Spitting and sputtering

Icon2 JDM D15b Spitting and sputtering
One of my friends just swapped a jdm d15b into his eg coupe. he can not get it to run right, it runs pretty rough but the idle does not jump... he's tried just about everything we could think of, timing's not off, cleaned injectors, tried different distributor. Don't think it is the headgasket, there is no coolant in the oil burning out of the exhaust... Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks!

Bad valve/valve spring?

have you tried your fuel pressure regulator along with your fuel filter?

Which D15B is it? Does it have zero, one, or two VTEC solenoids?
