Anybody have any recommendations on transport companies for transporting an ITR?
If anyone knows of any reputable, trustworthy companies, please let me know asap. Looking to transport an ITR..
The DAS auto shipper guys seem to be the popular one that many people off eBay use, the prices are rather reasonable as well.
Yeah that OR drive that bitch to wherever you're sending heR! You won't regret it as long as the weather isn't shitty.
When we had ours shipped from IL we used a car broker so they picked a random company or else I would remember who we used.
Make sure they use CLOSED transport. If the shipping takes longer than 1 day, you don't want an R exposed on a trailer and some ricer following the semi to a rest stop or if it rains, water getting the car wet.

Encolsed transport would be ideal, but you will likely pay a premium for that service. Plus, a lot of those enclosed trailers are pretty narrow, making it difficult to get in and out of the car, delicately at least. I had my E46 M3 brought up from West Palm in an enclosed trailer, and I cringed watching the transporter crawl up the car and in through the moonroof.
If you go with open transport, you can request to have the R top-loaded. Some tranporters charge a little extra for this, because it makes the car les succeptible to road debris and fluids from cars above. If its a multi-day trip, this would also help prevent potential theft or vandalism.

Go to this site Uship.com. It's like an Ebay, but for shipping companies. Basically you set how much you are willing to spend, and whether you want open or enclosed transport. Brokers then compete for your business and give you quotes. You can be as specific as you like in your listing. I personally have used this site and had no problems. Just make sure you ask questions to whom ever your considering to do business with. You have to remember that this is not a small package that can be picked up on notice. These companies can only pick up on certain days and at certain times. You have to make sure you explain your condition's, and make sure they are willing to accept them. I'll give you the number to the broker I used if you would like. They went out of there way for me. Hope this helps and good luck.
Thanks for all the replies. I first went with Plaza Auto Transport and they sucked. Now, Im looking for any other options.
Just find a good broker

get multiple enclosed quotes, they find a good company at the lowest price.
I've gone through this process a few times - beats dealing direct with a transport company.

one company i can say to avoid would be pioneer towing. I researched many companies before shipping my R and still had a major nightmare of a time with them.
I paid for shipping to my door. They told me no problem. On the day of arrival, they insisted i pick the car up at a nearby shopping center ( due to the size of the truck not being able to navigate through the part of the city i live in). I refused and told them that they would have to pay for the tow to bring it to me on a flat bed. In the meantime, the truck driver calls me ( he spoke limited to zero English, he was Korean) and asks me if i had the spare keys to the car, and that he could not find them. The driver lost the keys and had no idea how to get the car off the carrier. At that point i had no choice but i to go to the shoping center and make sure the situation didn't get any worse.
Long story short, I got the R home safe and sound, no thanks to the shipping company AT ALL. They were clueless and didn't help. Luckily the vehicle itself arrived undamaged, so i was just happy it made it in one peice. This was just my experience, just wanted to give you one example of what can happen.

I recently hauled my car to New York and when searching for a shipper, found this site, which provides some real good information about shipping services... You might also wanna check it out: http://www.carsshippingcompanies.com
the problem with finding a shipper is that most of them work on a network that will set you up with the closest and next available truck. Ive had a few cars shipped, and from my experience, the second you put in your request for a tow, you'll get a boatload of quotes from a number of different tow companies. You choose which company based on their price/package, but you really have no prior knowledge of who is coming to pick up/drop off the car. You can either go this route and save a few bucks, or pay whatever it costs to ship the car in an enclosed transport. Looking back, i would have payed the extra money, because you just never can be sure with an R. and just because the shipping company says that the car is fully insured, does not mean its safe.
this thread always comes to mind when i think of shipping an R
