Default so I had the AC checked...need a new compressor.

found out I need a new compressor and drier : /

kinda disappointed, but that's what I get for buying a used car...blah

anyways, i'm getting a quote now on how much a shop could do it for, but how hard would it be for me to put a compressor in? as well as a drier?

What's wrong with the compressor? I ask because the clutch/pulley/coil can be removed and replaced.

The good news is that used ones are everywhere, and dirt cheap!! I bought a used EM1 a couple years ago, and my compressor was shot too. $50 later and a simple install plus whatever the recharge was, and i was blowing in cold air on those hot days

are they pretty easy to do? We have a garage here on base w/lift, tools ect...so i'm assuming they would have everything needed to do what I had to.

And did you buy your used one here on HT? or somewhere else?

The comprssor is held in by only 4 12mm bolts, and the a/c pressure lines, that's it. It's a little tight, but not too bad.

I got mine from a local jdm supplier, but any local car club is also a good alternative. Many people do swaps, and leave out the a/c. You would be surprised how many people come out of the woodwork with one hiding in their garage if you ask for one

meant to ask on my last post, but can those parts be bought separately at a advance or autozone? and are they pretty simple to be put in once the compressor is out?

By the way, if the compressor had an internal failure, there is a good chance that small metal shavings were released into the refrigerant and circulated throughout the system. In this case, prior to installing a new compressor, you must flush the A/C system of this metal debris, which would otherwise soon kill the replacement compressor.

Also make sure to replace the O-rings on the A/C lines and the receiver/dryer, and when recharging the system with refrigerant, you need to add the appropriate oil to the system. The amount depends on whether or not you flushed the system.

Not sure. You can definitely get OEM parts from the Honda dealer or online from a place like Majestic Honda.

What year Civic?

Also, did you figure out where the refrigerant leaked out of the system prior to removing the compressor? If not, there's a possibility that the leak still exists when you reassemble the system.

The diagrams below are for 96-00 Civics, though I think your 95 Civic will be similar:
