Default New Headlight Buld ideas

Hey y'all I've had mediocre headlights for a while now and I want to upgrade them.

I am going to do a headlight restore w/ sand papers in the next few days

What light bulbs do y'all recommend that have farther distance and are brighter? I don't want to mod the headlights, just replace the bulbs. Appreciate it

Wetsanding the headlights does wonders for your lighting.

AS far as bulbs, phillips xtreme power are widely accepted on this forum as one of the best halogen bulbs. I just got some a few weeks ago and I'm extremely happy.

Don't expect much from a $12 bulb. Spend good money on the phillips xtreme bulb. There's actually a newer version that's a bit better. It's also $15 more expensive. I got the old one for around $31 shipped on powerbulbs.co.uk

Yeah dont buy that junk...it will blow up in 2 weeks because of that blue coating they burn out faster.

Like said above phillips makes some good bulbs. I have Sylvania Silverstars or something like that and they are great!!! Also Look on PIAA's website they have some extreme white bulbs that are really nice too..

So good luck!

What about wattage...should I worry that it will take up more watts than my old bulbs?

I'm a fan of SilverStars. I used them in the past in my Scion tC and I just got a set for my 99 DX.

I considered going HID but read alot of negative possibilities on these forums etc.
I'm happy with the SilverStars.

Interesting... Here's a comparison thread of the Xtreme power Philips vs the SilverStars.
This seems to favor SilverStars pretty heavily.

Philips Xtreme Power bulbs are brighter than Sylvania SilverStars. It also depends on how you have your headlights aimed. I believe most older cars with halogen bulbs have the driver headlight pointed down more to see in front of the car better. SilverStars also (in theory) won't last as long because they are coated bulbs.

Philips XTP's and Osram Nightbreakers are among the most popular and brightest halogen bulbs. They also have the factory wattage so they don't get hotter than other bright bulbs so you won't melt anything.

He said he didn't want to modify his lights. The only proper way to run HIDs is to install projectors in your housings

Thank you for actually being one of the few people who don't recommend P&P HID kit's.

I run the silverstar 9003/HB2/H4's in mine. They're 20 bucks a piece but they last good and are a super bright yellow. They're not real H4's though, they're still a standard halogen bulb. I bought a set last november ('09). I've had to replace the driver side twice, but the passenger is running strong. Gotta love them though.
