225/45/15 fit on my 99-00SI Wheels?
Im looking into buying some Toyo r888 or possibly some ventus r-s3s in a 225/45/15. This is for a 1999 si and im wondering if i can fit this on my stock SI wheels. Also will the tire rub? The car is not low at all and this is strictly for straight line. Im tired of buying drag radials and having them last 500 miles. Any input is appreciated.
Well, the safe wheel width range for that size tire is 7-8.5" wide. Your '99 Si wheels are only 6" wide.
Try some 225/50/15's. They are safe to be mounted on a 6" wide wheel. Plus, they are 24" in outer diameter, which is only about 0.5" taller than stock.

Thanks for the info, im not sure how weird a 50 series would look on the car I have a feeling it would rub. Anoyone have an pictures with these tires on a ek?

Any number of things could happen. It all depends on what you're doing with the car. If you're just parking it and displaying the tire setup, nothing should really happen. But, if you're looking to use the car for motorsport, I wouldn't be surprised if you had problems. But, if endangering your health for a 10mm wider contact patch (that's less then half an inch) is something you're willing to risk... don't say we didn't warn you.
Once again im not going to run the 235 it was just a question. Although i would not just be doing it for the contact patch, i wanted a taller tire, so hmm maybe risking my life is worth it now
Why not try the 225/50/15's? As previously stated, they are taller then OEM sizing. And, the added benefit of staying within safety limitations is a nice bonus.
My first stop for tire prices always seems to be Tire Rack, due to my success with shopping there in the past. I hear Discount Tires Direct is also good, but I have no personal experience there.
