Default Sedan transmission

I have a 1990 sedan pretty sure with the stock d15b2 but what about the transmission? I think i read somewhere the 1991 comes with a different transmission. Anyone know anything about this? Should i be able to fit any transmission from 88-90 if i have a 90 d15b2, and from any ef ed or wagon?

The previous owner ****ed up his transmission by putting wrong fluid and said he put a new one in but it doesnt shift right and now its ****ing up. Im wondering if he put on a 1991 transmission.

89-91 are the same. 88 use a different spline count.

90-91 ex have a different final drive.

pretty sure the not shifting right is a combo of a used tranny, and wrong transmission fluid.

*when you say its not shifting right, what do you mean? could you elaborate?

Oh i forgot to mention that its an automatic. What happens is the transmission shifts late and always has since i bought the car. When accelerating normal speed it doesnt shift but climbs up to 2500 or 3000 rpm before it shifts and im barely stepping on it. Also on a cold start it wont shift up to 3rd or 4th just stays in 2nd until after its warmed up.

So any transmission from 89-91 would be fine off of a d15b2? And could it be that the previous owner put a on a EX transmission?

Do EX's also come with a d15b2? or b3? mines an LX.

If it's an auto you should have a d16a6 IIRC.

Honda made(makes) a pretty rubbish auto trans.

Sounds like the torque converter is slipping. Could be a few problems (read a lot) with what symptoms you listed.
