Default Honda cancer question..

So I'm possibly getting a 99' DX this weekend. I have not gone and looked at the car yet because it is over 3 hours away, but I do have some pictures.

Does anyone know if I could get rid of this rust before it spreads? Its on both rear fenders..

I know you can cut and weld new pieces, but if its going to be that much trouble I won't even bother getting it..

I've seen what this stuff does to civics and I do not want it happening to mine.

that can be fixed but you need to get inside trim out the way and check the other side of the quarter panels.

yes it can be fixed, if you get it fixed make sure that area is coated with body wax or pur 51

So how can I fix it and keep it from spreading/coming back?

And since the problem is the trim on the INSIDE of the quarter panels would that mean that the metal is rusted all the way through since you can see it on the outside?

no, it doesn't mean that. it could just be surface rust.

you just need to check the back side of the quarter were it meets the outer wheel house but the interior panel will be in your way. i see rust all the time, this is not that bad.

surface rust can be sanded off. there is many rust repair products out there. some can go directly over rust others need to be sanded. there should be a local auto body supply store near you that can recommend a product.
