Default b17

ok so i have a b17 with all stock internals and im wondering how the crank and rods would hold up with jdm itr pistons. im looking to up the c/r and with itr pistons it would set me at about 11.04:1

now stock the motor has 160 hp with 117 ft·lbf
and a b16a2 has 160 hp too and 111 ft·lbf
so y do i never here about people swapping b17's or building them?
to my understanding it seems that the rod travel is just a little more but it has the same head as a b16. so what im wondering is truely how good is a b17 compared to a b16? thanks guys i respect your answer

The crank is what gives the b17 the added displacement.
B17a Rod length, 5.208"
B16a Rod length, 5.290"
B16 has a stroke of 77.4, while the B17 has a stroke of 81.4
B17 has a larger deck height; about .07mm taller then the B16. Nearly identical blocks.

Because it's a rare engine, it was made just for north america and maybe only the US.

I'm sure the internals can handle ITR pistons no problem.

I don't see why not. I have a set of USDM P73-A00 81.25mm new in box with rings for sale if you want'em. You'd have to have your block bored .25mm over though.

We got them in Canada too. I keep hearing production numbers of about 5000. But yes B17A1s were only available in north america. They're esentially a factory B16A stroker. Block and head are both identical to a B16A. Only difference is the rotating assembly. Personally I think they're a good candidate for an NA build. Friend of mine had one for a while and we were going to throw a set of P30 pistons in it but we never did. Car has long since been sold.

Btw, if you have the original YS1 cable tranny that goes with it you can swap the guts into a hydro case.

Why would it be 158 or 160 cuz stock piston c/r is like 9.6:1 so if i rasid my c/r to 11.04:1 why would hp stay the same? I will be getting a tune
