ls-v problem in 2000 gsr
So I jus did a lsv swap in my gsr. I have a few problems wit it. First is what do I do about the pcv? My block is from a 99 ls and it dosent have the canester for the pcv. Second is will I be able to pass emissions with the pcv pluged up? Anyone?????
I do have a cel. So I'm guessing I'm not goin to pass. Is there any way I can get around this? Also I need to plug the intake temp sensor but the thing is I have a 2000 si head so I have a 2000 si intake manie. How could I by pass that?
your engine should still have a black box for the pcv. the valve itself should be held along one of the IM runners.

also a pcv valve would not cause a check engine light. pull the code and report back. its probably from the IAT, which you said is not installed. the 2000 si had the IAT in the intake arm.
are you running an obd2 ecu?

Should have used a 90-95 block...
At the very least you'll need an aftermarket oil catch can. DO NOT plug the PCV vent ports unless you want to toast your rings.
Breather box installation. 96+ LS blocks wont have this, which is why it is better to use the 90-95 LS blocks. Now think about it. Does it really matter how many miles the block you are using for this build has? Not really, because you are going with new rings/bearings/hone anyway right? But, use common sense for this. Get the cheapest 90-95 block you can find. If you are building a B20vtec however, you will have to buy one. Z10 motorsports and Endyn both make nice kits for you. This is not mandatory, but I highly recommend it. If you don't have this breather box or an aftermarket one installed, your motor will develop higher crankcase pressures, and a your oil will accumulate a quicker build-up of combustion by-products I.E. hydrocarbons and water. Make sure the little rubber o-ring is on the box, and pop it into the equally sized opening on the back of the block. Torque down the single bolt on the bottom till it is tight. Done.
