What welding helmet does everyone use?
I myself use a $30 jackson fixed lens with a big ol gold lens. Its like welding in HD, I love it.
I have an Elite, but I think its a piece of ****, and I only use it if I do alot of tacking or if I have to mig something. it has very few hours, new battery yet it constantly flashes me if im remotely close to out of position. that and the headgear just stripped out (the part with the 3 diff slots to put it in, one is useless now), and its heavy. Im probably the only one here that doesnt like the Elite, lol
gold lens fixed shade is great for TIG, IMO atleast

I have a speedglass 9002x (?) auto dark and it works really well for 99% of what i do but holy crap does it liek to flash you if you get your hand in front of a sensor. So i'm interested in picking up a nice fixed shade for getting in tight spots for welding.
yea your best bet is just to pickup a cheap fixed lens helmet for $30 and then get a gold lens for it
My Elite and Huntsman 700 are comparable in clarity, but I prefer looking at a gold weld then a green one. Try to get glass lenses instead of plastic as they're more resilient to scratching and stay clear much longer.
My Elite has a secondary lens slot for a magnifying lens. After your eyes adjust from the magnifying power, you can see everything and lay down some serious beads.

Love my Speedglass 9100xx! A little pricier than the Miller Elites and Jackson Nex-Gens, but have a bigger viewing area, so that's what sold me. Probably going to pick up a fixed shade Jackson like the one above when I get some cash, those are super sweet to weld with a gold lens

i got the same. shade 12 for me though, 10 kills my eyeballs.
I'm such a Miller fanboi...

All in all I like it, but I have no experience with anything else other than a fixed glass helmet which I HATED. The only time I have ever been flashed by my helmet so far has been when I forgot to turn it on, LOL.
