91 Dual point bog, sputter issue, STOCK
Well, Ive been messing with this all weekend and figured I would see if anyone else may be able to shed some lite on this problem for me. 91 civic, 1.5 dual point. 231k miles on the clock, bone stock. Car runs like a champ untill last thursday. Drove it to work, ran fine. Went on break abut 3 hours later and car has a sputter or flutter. Hard to take off from a stop and hesitates untill about 2500 rpm. No CEL. Drove it home. New cap rotor and plugs. Fuel pressure is perfect, compression is good.
I found that if I gently roll into the throttle, It will pull smooth with no problems. If i give it too much or "normal" throttle it will flutter and hesitate untill about 2200-2500 rpm and then runs perfect, like someone is flipping a switch. If I pay attention to how much throttle I give it I can drive "around" the problem. It is consistant. Was thinking TPS but there is no code. Waiting for a buddy who has one for me to try but figured I would ask for some suggestions. I was thinking the coil could be going bad but the symptoms are the same weither the car is sitting or under a load which leads me to believe the coil should be fine as normally you'll only see an ignition issue when the car is under a load. Weither the car is sitting in the driveway or running down the street, it acts the same way. has a dead spot from about 900 rpm to 22-2500 rpm unless I baby the throttle( by baby I mean give it just enough to move the car) otherwise it seems to run fine. Any ideas? Thanks

Havent checked timming yet however adjusting the dist tard and advace does nothing, I would assume I would see some change with this adjustment, at least enough to take a closer look at the timing.
have u checked out the injectors, maybe one is plugged or spraying too much and after 2500 it can handle the fuel. not too sure tho never had to deal with sumthin like that. good luck
Checked your fuel filter? I am fighting this same issue, bought my EF about a month ago, same day it started sputtering in low rpm range in second gear only, now it wont run at all, it seems to flood out with the more throttle i add. Hope you get it figured out.
Filter is good. Pressure is good. Im waiting to get a couple of parts from a buddy to try. Im thinking either tps or coil is starting to break down.

Well, turnned out to be a simple set of plugwires. Always the last and easiest thing you check. I suppose I was overthinking it. Thanks for everyones input. Runs like a champ, DPFI and all.
