Do you HAVE to have the stiffer trunk springs for OEM spoilers?
I have an 00 ex...today I'm trading an 06 or so CTR shift **** for a 6th gen OEM SI/Dealership option wing...straight up trade and I have no use for a 6 speed **** so it works out for me.
I've read about the stiffer trunk springs that are used when you get the spoiler kit from the dealership.
I don't need my trunk to catapult **** when I pull the trunk release inside I'm just wondering if it will at least stay open or am I going to have to manually open it every time from the back unless I get the springs?
Thanks in advance.

There are. I used to work for a dealership, when we put a spoiler on we always changed the springs/tension rods. I can't specifically remember putting a spoiler on and seeing if it would take the extra weight on the stock springs though.
^ AWESOME! Thanks. I'm not gonna throw it on until I repaint my car but I'm trying to be prepared for when I do, when I'm done I want to be completely done.
Got the spoiler about ten minutes ago, amazing shape, brake light works.
I guess I'll change the tension setting before I paint and see how it goes. I've got a couple months before I paint so it's all good.
Quick last question if anyone knows off the top of their head, are all ex's equipped with the brake light hookup? Where would it be found?

You need the upgraded springs. It will fall down and be quite dangerous if your head is underneath. The brake light hook up is the male connector for the third brake light on the rear shelf.
can you elaborate on this? i have the same problem, i want a clean oem connection. from what it sounds like your saying, just unplug the current third brake light, cut wires, and connect them to the spoiler led wires?

You can do what you said above, or alternatively splice into the wires such that both the high mount and spoiler brake light work.
On my car I had to disconnect the plug for the shelf mounted brake light and plug it right into the OEM spoiler connection. No splicing. Don't know if it was supposed to be this way since the car came like this when I bought it.
This is how Honda's instructions say to do it.
Yeah and let me tell you that thing can come down with some serious force.
I would only hook up the spoiler light (using the third brake light wires as the source). To have to both the third brake light and the spoiler one would be just as redundant as it would be retarded.
EDIT: As per Honda instructions, you disconnect the MALE third brake light plug and plug that into the female spoiler wire harness. This goes to confirm my thoughts above.

For cars like the GSR (and GS), they came from the factory with the 3rd brake light on the spoiler, thus did not have the holes in the glass for the hatch mounted light.
Hey dude! I would say you don't need them. When I got my aspec spoiler I didn't change out my shocks or anything back there and it still worked great. But if you do change it out it shouldn't cost too much at all.
^ Thanks for all the input everyone. It's almost completely stripped of paint and primer, I should be wet-sanding and applying a coat of adhesion promotor tomorrow or the next day if all goes well.
Thanks again btw Kev. I got my suspension issues fixed today and got my skunk2 dual bend installed finally.
