Default passed NYC emissions today..with a built NA set-up

I stopped by my old job today, I used to work at Pep Boys and had my car inspected.

I'm running a Toda Header, Carsound cat and ITR Kakimoto R exhaust and passed with flying colors.

I had to detune my motor quite a bit though....putting in a stock ECU, cam gears at 0-0, connected breather tube, VAFC settings at zero, but I kept my timing advanced though....

Everything went well..

Congrats!! Glad to hear. I've been pondering emissions lately, so it is good to hear someone passed. When it is my turn for IL emissions testing, I'm thinking I'll have to do the same thing (i.e., dial everything back down), including we-todd-ing the timing.

What kinda built N/A set up you running? Cams and compression?

I dont have testing for another year or two. But I still would like to know if I should be worried. For now I plan to be around 11.5:1 compression, and CTR/ITR cams. DC JDM 4-1, Carsound(soon), And either my N1 or ES exhaust(on 2.5 piping by then), Skunk2 Manifold. I dont think there that strict here in IL, so I shouldnt have much to worry about.

That's a basically stock setup.

I wouldn't worry too much (especially if they're not that strict).

Here are the basics: Toda B's, fully built DPR Stage 6 headwork with additional options, SK2 manifold, bored out GSR t-body, Hondata gasket, mugen headgasket, camgears, ~ 11.8 compression, STOCK GSR bottom end, VAFC, Yoshios Toda Program ECU 9K redline, Toda Header, Carsound cat, ITR Kakimoto R exhaust, Unorthodox race pully, no p/s, no a/c, no cruise control.

Last year I failed once and I had to change a few more parts back to stock in order to pass.....

This time I had all grounds covered and passed on the first shot....

Thats a nice set-up...

You have the Hondata gasket, Its only 60/65 bucks. But is it worth it as far as the install. And do you think/feel that the gasket is making any differnce?

Real nice set-up Have you dynoed it yet???

As far as the gasket making a difference, I dont know... as for install, it was easy...I did it myself, and bought extra long studs from Acura to mount them.

I've dynoed at 188.5 WHP, 130.6 tq a while back. With my newest mods and with additional tuning, I'm sure 193-195 WHP is within reach....and thats on a stock GSR bottom end

At my last dyno session tuning couldn't be fine tuned for several reasons, but once I solve it we can fine tune my car more for more WHP and to take advantage of my mods ever since my last dyno session. I'm shooting for 193-195 WHP, 132 tq...

I also was told that this month, NYS has made it more difficult to pass the emissions inspection by lowering the minimum passing NOx levels.....
