Default 98 crv

Just buyed GM motors X66A carb cleaner and will clean my dirty IAC valve. I am in saudi arabia and have noticed there are no heater/coolant lines on my IAC valve (doesnt snow here). Will do this next week....

Also I have noticed that I loose water (dont put coolant here in the desert) in the coolant bottle in the 98 crv. I loose half a bottle every week or two. There are no leaks at all and car has no problem. Is this normal.

Hi,

It's NOT normal here in Canada. But we do use engine coolant all the time in our coolant systems. Are you sure you don't put coolant in the desert? I don't think water will be sufficient regardless of the temperatures.

Maybe I am wrong?

I've read that soldiers in the desert use 70% engine coolant and 30% distilled water for desert purposes. Also, you should check your radiator cap. Because you are using only water, the water might have evaporated before you can notice it leaking on the floor, etc.

Good luck!

I kind of figured it out to my coolant loss problem. There are no white smoke in the morning, checked it today. But I have noticed lot of rust and some deposit (like a water reaction or somthing) in where the coolant hose connects to the engine. All the other coolant connections are fine, no rusty deposits. The radiator cap is new. So probably when I am driving, the coolant evaporates from there.
