Default 97 ek runs warm for unknown reason need help

97 ek auto with y7 all stock.

145k miles

run coolant, brand new cap and thermostat

water pump doesnt leak, car has no leaks at all.
no oil in the radiator
no water in the oil
I have the fan switch jumped so fan runs all the time car is on. but car eats water and has to be topped off every 2-3 days

it seems like when ever I floor it then get off it the temp rises a lil. then when I get on the gas about 1/8 throttle you watch the needle rise to about 3/4 but if you let off the gas or turn on the heater temp drops to normal.

do I have a blown head gasket thats just leaking to the exhaust or something or am i over looking something. need helpl please, dont have the money to get a gasket and have the head surfaced.

other than that motor runs great peppy as ****. just want this over heating prob fixed for my girl to drive my 3 month old around thanks guys

wtf, no replies at all?

anyways since it was running warm and kinda had a mind of its own last night we parked it, this morning checked the coolant and it was full.

no idea why this thing even gets hot in the first place. anyone have a suggestion?

just because your water pupm isnt leakin doesnt mean its workin.... pop open the cap to the radiator when its cold start it up and let it get warm, and try see if u can see the coolant travel if it isnt more than likely it isnt spining

has the water pump been replaced? with 145k miles water pump and timing belt should have been replaced.

are you sure the sending unit isn't going bad? also if you have a blown headgasket look at the plugs.

if they are extremly clean and have a green tint to em that's always not a good sign. depending on how well you can look into the chambers the pistons would also be fairly clean.

You said it's eating coolant and you know you have a bad headgasket...but you don't know what your problem is?

No. He's not sure if it's a headgasket issue. Do a compression test.

yes the coolant is flowing, thats how I found out the car didnt have a t stat in it

they both have been replaced at one point or another because its a napa belt and the water pump is cleaner than the rest of the motor

I thought it was the heater core at first but everythings good and dry

thing is it only eats water some times, idk why but I checked it 3 days in a row even after it got hot on me 1 time and its full of coolant.

it seems to only get hot if I floor it and take it to red line then let off the gas. thats about the only time I have the problem

How about starting at the basics: did you bleed properly. I would take you cap off and look for bubbles man! If you see lots of bubbles and they don't stop then compression test time

headgasket or slow leak in pipes or something. ur loosing coolant. the pump is not bad. if ur losing coolant prob a leak or headgasket period

the previous owners replace everyhting because they prob knew it was overheating so they took the tstat out changed the water pump. but never did change the headgasket or figure out the problem. sorry im typing on a small laptop

Is the cap maintaining proper pressure, i.e. can ANY coolant be seen spilled right below the cap after driving.

You can always get a UV dye for your coolant and see where it is coming from, but if its an internal leak (headgasket) then this wouldn't do much good.
