Icon2 1999 Accord EX h22a 97-98 spec swap question

Hey everyone, I am new to the honda-tech world but not new to hondas. I have been working with them for about 6 years now and am loving every bit of it. Just sold a turbo'd del sol vtec!! bing!!! I now have a 1999 accord ex 5 speed in beautiful condition. Thing is, it is kinda slow, silly 2.3 vtec bummer. I want to swap in the h22a 97-98 spec and have read many threads and posts about it on this site but I still have a couple questions. I was wondering what ecu I should use, I know that the site mentions the p28, but can I use the p13? Also how bad will the f23 trans effect the driving of the h22a? I know the gears are longer which means less torque response but I do not want to race the car, its just for fun. Any and all info welcome. Thanx

Welcome, ecu wise i cant really help you there since ive never done that department but i take it that you are going to downgrade your emissions from obd-2B to OBD-I right, because that can be some useful information for us to help you...Now about the tranny. if this is going to just be your DD then i would just stick with the F trans since you get better gas millage from it. But if you were to be building it to race then i would go for the prelude trans

Yes I am going to go from obdII - obdI. I heard that it is much easier and i believe they sell wiring kits for it. Racing is something I do not plan on doing with the car at all, DD and maybe some trac times just for shitz and giggles. I had read that the f23 trans is only good for 250 hp, is that true also? I plan on doing some other upgrades ( cams, header, intake, etc...) basic bolt ons for the most part, will this trans hold if I upgrade the clutch and flywheel possibly?
