Default Tune Up To Help MPG?

So I'm a student in High School and my 1997 Honda Civic EX seems to be wasting so much gas! My 97 Civic DX I used to have used to last me a week on a full tank, and this one won't last me a couple of days.

Anyways, what could I do to increase MPG's? I need something relatively inexpensive at the moment...Like cleaning something!

Do you think cleaning IACV? Or anything else could help? I have $30 to my name, and I wont be able to buy any of that good stuff for about another week, but any help is useful

CEL?

Nothing that I can think of to clean...

Spark plugs that are worn out will give you really crappy fuel economy. Check them out, replace if needed. That's really cheap.

spark plugs, fuel filter, spark plug wires, PCV valve. All of which are cheap and can rape your MPG.

I agree. Also make sure they are a decent brand of spark plugs and wires. IE: NGK, DENSO

Start here ---> Spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, ignition timing.

O2 sensor can also kill your gas mileage. Sometimes they're going and don't show a CEL
