So im in the middle of doing my head job. I've searched but my question is a lil more specific. I called and got a quote for them to check the head out and take off .030 just to raise the compression a little on the stock motor. They told me that theyd have to take the cam out and the rocker assy, etc so im looking at $120. Im in maryland and i beilve that to be a little ridiculous.
So do I really have to dissasemble the head to get it decked?
And I have a full z6 sitting in great condition but if I pull that head im going to have to do the same process. It has no prior issues of over heating etc. Its original destination was my ef.

yes they have to pull the rocker assembly off and cam off a SOHC to deck it or ur valves will be sticking out. its no big deal its not hard to install a cam. set the cam tdc then put the assembly back on and make sure all the rockers are on the lobes and vtec rockers are sitting rite and tighten it in sequence dont force anything u will snap a cam.
