yesterday my car was running perfect. and then i got to my gf's house and shut the car off. and then i started and i was driving and it wouldnt go over 3500 and the exhaust would go pop pop pop and the engine wouldnt go over 3500 and it would almost feel like i was hitting fuel shut off. i turned my car off andback on again and the problem was gone. any ideas?

 

ecu went into limp mode for some reason. happened to me once, hasn't happened again.

 

Pull the distributor cap off and see if the screw for the rotor came loose.

 

Ya that **** happened to me... I was like, hell if your going to blow up... than do it now... So I slammed on the gas and that little bastard started working fine. It was wierd because I pulled over and pulled sparkplug #3 out, and when I did that the car went into limp mode and would shoot a long code 1... but it wouldn't do it with any of the other plugs... wierd...

 

My instructor once told me that if your ignition coil is starting to go bad. One of the symptoms will the be car not going over a certain speed or rpm. Thus causing the popping from the exhaust.. Hope that helps..
