Default 94 CX hatchback

I came upon a 94 CX Hatchback at a good price. The only problem is the old owner has a "minime swap"(y7 block with a y8 head) in it. I want to convert everything back to the original motor. What will I need, Sorry if I sound like a newb but I am at a lost when it comes to this. Thanks.

You will need the following:

D15B7 complete motor
P06 ECU
S20 A000 manual transmission
Engine harness possibly

That is all I can think of off the top of my head. You would honestly be better off keeping the mini me if it was done properly.

Yeah. why the desire to bring it back to stock, out of curiosity?

My main concern is emissions because I live in Cali. The car passed smog but I am not sure if it did legally since the seller had it done. More then likely I'll keep it the way it is until issues arise lol. What harness would I need? By the way spoon I searched around and it said I needed a d15b8 and p05 ecu is that correct or what you suggested. Thanks.

I would leave it alone. I doubt there's a law in California that says you can't swap intake manifolds from one engine of the same car to the same engine of another car.

You'll be really sad when you lose 20hp and 5-6 tq.

Dang, does that sohc motor setup make a power increase? The y8 being a newer head, correct?

It's moreso that the y8 head and intake manifold flow that much better. Plus you get vtec so it's more efficient at higher rpms. So more power at the top end of the band, albeit marginally.

Original stock engine was a D15B8 and P05 ECU. Honestly i'd put a D15B7 in it, shouldn't be any problem getting it smogged legally. The originally engine is 70hp, the D15B7 is 102, what's in there now is somewhere around 125.

Will I need to change out the current wiring or can I leave it as is and it will be plug and play?

I don't know, just because i'm not sure what the last guy did. If it hadn't been touched at all you'd need to run 3 wires for the O2 sensor, or use a '94 - '95 DX/LX engine harness.

I was just going off the top of my head what I figured you would need. But I don't think there is anything wrong with upgrading to a newer engine. It's downgrading to an older engine that the gov. does not like. If the "mini-me" was done right then there is no reason that it should not pass smog even better than with the stock engine. It would not hurt to take it somewhere and have it tested to see if it will pass smog. If not then they can give you ideas as to what needs to be fixed. But I say if they used the 96-98 engine harness, with a P2P ECU it should be more than fine!

But listen to 94EG8 he knows what he is talking about for sure. He helped me out big time already once!

dont really know where to put this. i am new to this. well i have a 1996 honda accord with 170, 000 miles on it and i was thinking h22 swap?? and then i was also thinking buy a civic with no motor or blown motor and put my f22 into it. it would be pretty cheap for more power because i already have the motor and it runs great so i would just need a better trans in the civic correct?and my current motor is automatic was thinking auto h22 just for daily driver with more power and could always change my mind later and civic maybe boost? heard they have great compression. if there is a better forum to ask this please help me or please answer my question. just to let u know im not like DOING this it just kinda popped up and i tried to research alittle so dont be critics just help me make a good decision.
