The brake lamp light will come on periodically for no reason. When I turn the car off and back on it goes off.

 

Brake fluid low?

 

Shop manual indicates that most common failure is brake lamp switch. That is, if the light in safety panel comes on when depressing brake pedal. Of course first check brake light bulbs. If they're ok move to switch. Then check the brake light sensors in each taillight.
