My car has always worked fine until now. I went to Dallas for one week and when I came back I took my car for a drive but 1 mile into it the battery light turned on. I took it to Autozone and the sales rep ran tests on the battery, starter, and alternator w/ a hand held machine. He said the battery was fine (had it replace 5 months ago), the starter was fine but the alternator was bad. I had my friend take out the alternator and we went back to Autozone to buy a new one. A different sales rep decided to re-test the alternator w/ the alternator specific machine. He ran the test 3 times and each time it said the alternator was good. When my friend reinstalled the old alternator the battery light was no longer on. I drove it for 10 days w/out a problem and w/the battery light off; then the light came back on and the battery died. I was able to turn it back on after 20 minutes. I drove it as far as i could and it died again. My brother came and we were able to jump start it and drive it for a mile before it died again. Don't know what it could be. Would appreciate any suggestions/tips.

 

Check your grounds..and also your alternator might be bad, I don't really dont trust those machines that test out stuff at auto zone. But Start of by checking grounds.
