Ek hatch water leak
I just got a Ek hatch and noticed that the front passenger carpet gets wet when it rains. The car is a 96 and I was thinking that the weather stripping probably needs to be replaced. How can I make sure it's the weather stripping or where are some problem areas the water could be coming in?
Someone just asked nearly the same question. Get a hose. Run water over the weatherstripping and check for the source of the leak. You may wind up having to pull back the carpet.
Well that absoultly didn't help at all. of course the hose would be better than waiting for the rain lol. Like some cars have common areas that end up leaking water. I was wondering if anyone knows any with the Ek models maybe under the cowling??? By the way usually if you can see the water coming in with a hose you can find the leak usually tho you cant
Is it only the front carpet? I had a similar problem with my integra. Water was entering through the gasket on the back of the tail lights and thru holes next to the taillights that are usually plugged with small rubber grommets. Check the spare tire basin and see if water is collecting there and shwashing (is that a word?) into the front.
the idea wasnt to just pour water down the weatherstripping on the windshield, you probably should have let an entire river flow down front end of the cabin, most likely you should of found that leak
A hose is going to be your best bet. Run it around different areas you suspect may be leaking. You can stare at the weatherstrips all you want, but you might not be able to find the sorce of the leak. So +1 for the hose idea.
