DIY Front half bumper from scratch
So I decided I want to tackle on making a half bumper
I actually made video clips of what I've done and will post them later on after I make the edits.
This was my first time working with spackle instead of body filler. This was so easy to sand which allows me to see results quicker. One thing I learned was not to leave this outside because moisture will crack the spackle. So I moved it inside my garage and decided to work in there from now on.
I'm still reading the fiberglass forum archives to see if I can pick up any new tips on how to work with spackle.
Here's what i have so far taped up in green
1) fiberglassed the original shape of the bumper
2) i changed the shape of the mouth via cardboard
3) i added a lip on each side via cardboard
other designs i plan on adding on
1) modify the foglight housing area like my original version
2) add a horizontal bar to connect to the lip on each side
3) add some accents outside of the foglight area
1st mock up

added horizontal bar

horizontal bar reversed.
i figured that i can fiberglass this piece separately and just create black brackets for them

Final mock up.
fiberglassed and should be cured by tomorrow

I plan on making a master mold out of this in case I break this.
Pryed the half bumper off the OEM bumper

Left side with spackle. Bottom lip sanded down a bit

The cardboard strip will be beveled. Also like the middle piece wrapped around the mouth area.
I plan to wrap that specific area in cf vinyl

3/4 done with the spackle. The part that doesn't have spackle had to be refiberglassed

Moved the half bumper inside the garage to prevent moisture from cracking the spackle

Custom side skirts done. Ready for primer and master mold

Going on this bad boy

bondo/body filler is just a pain to work with when it comes to sanding.
