Default b16a swapped Civic: H2b swap or build the B16a?

here soon i'll most likely be purchasing a b16a swapped civic...and that will be great initially, but i've been around Hondas for a while now and would like to do a h2b being I'll already have the bseries trans..

would a h2b be better then say doing more NA mods to the b16a? or boost for that matter? I'd like to keep it a DD for at least a good 2-3 so NA is prob where i'll stand..

and the most i'd go with the h is cams and maybe mild headwork..don't want to get too crazy, I see what some of you guys run in the 1/4 w/200 whp...

i'd be perfectly fine w/that

anyways, lemme know what you think.

Thanks

"there is no replacement for displacement"

going H2b obviously will produce more (and safer) HP then a b16.

I appreciate that. Thanks

As for the swap. I won't be doing it anytime soon I'd like to run the b16 as long as I can or maybe even to the point where I have another car to drive in the process while I swap it over. I'm sure this swap is pretty common now and on base they let us rent a lift, garage, and tools for basically nothing so I'm sure I could get the swap done in a day but my luck something would go wrong and be without a car haha.

But it is within sight. Definitely seems like a better way to go then trying to build up the b16 unless I were to find used cams for a decent price along the way. The b16 supposedly already has ctr cams and numerous bolt ons so I'm probably good in that department.

I'm going to read up on those stickies about the h2b swap but I'm sure I'll ask more ?'s later simply because I'm a newb haha

turbo the b16.
it'll make more power, still be reliable, fun to drive. and its super easy. compared to an H2b kit plus actually doing it.

I vote h2b, pretty much 12s guaranteed stock. There is nothing like raw NA power and short gears along with factory honda reliability IMO

wouldn't the cost of that be more then buying the necessary hardware to do a h2b? Since I already have the bseries trans?

and don't you think a basically stock hseries would be more reliable then a turbo'd b?

Going from B to h2b will cost almost nothing after you factor in the money you get from selling the b16 longblock, your only costs are going to be little things like getting the crank pulley shaved and getting it tuned and whatnot.....if you can find a used h2b kit this will be dirt cheap

you referring to the motor and kit to make it all happen?

I haven't been in the game in a while now, are h2b's pretty common nowadays in comparison to what they were 3-4 years ago?

and is this something that could be done within a day? or would my car most likely be down longer then that due to different things needing done? I was reading through some of the stickies and some people are complaining that certain things dont' fit ect...granted that was from a couple years ago so idk how well of the h2b kits are anymore.

They are more common I would say, although where I live they are pretty rare. I doubt you could do it in one day without air tools and a lift, it all depends on if you have all the parts you need as well as your experience doing swaps
