Severe steering wheel shake in EG with LS swap
Just picked up a 92 EG hatch with a b18b1/GSR tranny swapped in. It has some kind of aftermarket engine mounts.
Now when I drive it at highway speeds it will randomly and quite often get a pretty severe shake in the steering wheel and sometimes pull to the right slightly. Its not a vibration and It's not the normal bad alignment or wheel balance shake. It feels like the whole steering column could be moving or something.
I have a feeling it might be something to do with the engine mounts but when it first happened it scared the **** outta me cause it felt like something was about to fall off the car.
Any ideas?

you sure its not the dips in the freeway pavement from semi trucks?
depending on tires it will affect the car more.

It's definitely something wrong with the car.
Its a longshot but have you checked all the bushings up front?I would start there and check all the bushings then take a look at all the ball joints and tie rods
I just got the car the other day, gonna try and get it up on a lift soon. I've been talking with people and heard the same thing, most likely one of the CV joints and the driveshafts or a bad tie rod.
Probably just gonna go in and replace it all since I plan on doing a lot of work on this car anyways. If it still does it after that I'm guessing its the steering column, which is gonna suuuuuck.
