Icon3 Honda ATF DW-1

Anyone used DW-1 on their non-2011 auto trans?

Honda stop making Z1 and the ATF is now DW-1. 2011 models can ONLY use DW-1.

But I heard (internet) it's ok to use on models prior to 2011 (there is no choice because there are no Z1 soon), but have not read anything official from Honda.

Good time to stock up on Z1?

From what I understand, it's an "all apples are fruit, but not all fruits are apples" situation.

Parts guy says Z1 is being used until stock is gone, then everything can use DW-1, but 2011+ will exclusively use DW-1.

What the difference is, I don't know.

you know funny thing is, at most dealership they don't even use their own brand fluids. They use whatever they can get for cheap bulk oils.

Definitely not Honda/Acura dealerships. All their trans fluid is bottled.

Yep, same with the dual pump fluid for the CR-Vs and pilots. We always used honda coolant too. Only stuff that wasn't honda was the oil (for 5w30 it was in a petro canada 55 gallon drum, 5w20 was in a bulk oil tank, don't know where it came from) anything else came out of a honda bottle.

Just picked up some yesterday at the dealership. My dealership sells the Z1 at $11.99 and the DW-1 at $7.99.

I asked the Parts guy why are they selling Z1 more than DW-1. I would figure "new" would cost more. He does not know.

I think this dealer (maybe others) are trying to create an impression of shortage, so people will try to stock up on the old Z1.

Other dealers (farther away) is the opposite. DW-1 cost about $0.50 more than Z1.
