Cracked windsheild on freeway need help
Sup H-T,
Cracked my windshield on the way to work because of a stupid rock chip and now I have quite a dilemma.
I can either go with a OE windshield at $250, but I hate OE and I would really like to get my windshield from the factory and unfortunately the cost is at double of the price of a OE one.
Should I just bite the bulltet and pay double for OEM or will I be okay with going OE?
This is for my 99 Civic Si btw.

i paid 180 for a new windshield in my hatch and i can't complain. the guy went above and beyond and i'm glad i didn't pay $100 more for a safelite replacement.
Edit: The cracked windshields were a result of highways not well maintained here and trucks kicking up debris. Hence ditto what fonkernuckle says below.

exactly, 3 windshields in 4 years, why spend large dollars when you are going to end up with a chipped/cracked windshield regardless, unless you just decide not to drive the car anymore.
Alright real talk. Is it a crack or chip?
Chip can usually be repair. If its crack, I recommend to replace it. If money is tight, you can usually drive if for a while. But you'll start to notice the crack getting longer/bigger. Just don't get pulled over. --> Fix it ticket.
Nothing wrong with after market replacement. It really depends on the guy that install it. Chance if the guy runs a wind shield replacement shop. Dude know what he's doing.
Fix chip. I've used this in the past. Yes, it works.

There's usually a logo in the corner of the glass that tells you who made the original, most likely PPG, chances are pretty good the aftermarket one was also made by PPG.
