85 CRX HF won't idle after warm up
Like the title states, the 85 CRX HF will not idle after it has warmed up. The car has sat for a while (I'm guessing months), but starts up when cold. While I have not done this, I was told that with a little motivation from a coat hanger, the warm idle could be "held open?" enough to get the car to stay running and driving.
Sorry I am not familiar with these carbs, otherwise I would use more technical lingo.
Thanks

When the motor is cold, the choke closes acorss the throat of the carb to make the mixture richer. When the engine gets warm, the choke opens and the mixture gets leaner.
From what we know, your engine likes a richer condition.
The old carb'ed Hondas have about a mile or two of vacuum lines under the hood. If any one of them have come loose, or has a hole in it your engine will run poorly. So I would check ALL of the vacuum lines.
Also, the gasket under the carb has a tendency to dry out and start to leak which could screw up things. So I would replace that gasket as well.

Scott,
I appreciate the reply. I was told that the back "flapper/valve" on the carb opens too much once the car warms up and switches over to that circuit, causing it to die. I was also told that (before my time) the flapper was some how held shut a little more with some wire allowing the car to run in a temporarily drive-able state.
Think that is a vacuum problem?
