EK wont idle afler stereo install
I'm having the exact same problem as this guy https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-2001-2005-78/replaced-stereo-now-civic-stalls-stop-lights-iacv-problem-2842239/ except in a 96 civic lx.I had a stereo put in my car and now it stalls at stop lights and stop signs once its warmed up and idles ruff when its cold.Any ideas what the problem could be?
The Idle Relearn is not quite as listed, but close. Reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery, or by removing fuse #6 from the fuse box located under the hood. Wait a couple minutes before reinstalling, then proceed to do the following.
Make sure everything electrical is off. (A/C, radio, rear defog, wipers, lights, etc. etc)
Keep the car in Park or Neutral and start it, then hold it at 3,000 RPM until the radiator fan comes on, or until it reaches operating temperature. (194 degrees).
Take your foot off the gas and let the car idle for five minutes.
Definitely something electrical if it only happens with the stereo hooked up, but the whole thing is a bit odd.
Has the MIL (check engine light) come on at all? Have you checked for stored codes?
Did you use a harness adapter, or is the stereo connected directly to the harness wires?

Also, sometimes after resetting the ECU, it takes a little bit of drive time for the idle to properly reset.

Drive the car for 10 or 15 minutes to see whether the idle speed comes back to normal. If not, then try cleaning the IACV and adjusting the idle speed. Do you have the stock 96 Civic engine with no mods?
So are you saying that if you unplug the radio, like was stated in the 7th gen thread you linked to, the car idles correctly? I ask because you state you were having the exact same problem.
I went for the drive and threw a code 61, Primary oxygen sensor.Ill go buy a new one now.
