I get a strong gas smell from my 93 civic 2dr. I removed the charcol canister from under the hood and the line to the rear. I don't find any leaks anywhere. smell comes from the back. only smell it seems after I fill up and for the next few days. I don't over fill my tank. when the pump goes off I stop. Other than the charcol canister line to the tank everything is hooked up. Anyone have this problem?

 

The hose may not be completely plugged, allowing release of gasoline vapor.

 

how about a leak in the injectors?

fresh build motor. no leaks at injectors. smell is clearly coming from the back. injectors was my first check. I removed the line from canistor from front to rear and capped the nipple on the tank and had the smell. I removed the cap thinking that that might have been the cause but still get the smell.

 

With the EVAP system disconnected and sealed, a rear fuel odor could only come from a leaking gas tank or fuel fill pipe or cap. The latter two are the most likely.

 

^ Yeah...think maybe you bumped something when you deleted the evap system?

 

the whole system came out since I rebuilt the car. I reused the pipe and the tank. I have had 2 new caps thinking that was the problem. I don't know if it was this way before because I bought it not running.

 

I was thinking maybe a tank or pipe but IDK. I don't see any leaks.
