Hey guys, I have a 1997 DX coupe, pretty stock with 160k miles on it. I was having some weird brake problems driving to and from work last night, and checked it out today and the rotor split right where the part with four holes that go on the wheel studs meets the bigger, actual brake disc part. Has this ever happened to anyone? What may have caused it? Just rust and old age I guess.

Anyway, I ordered some Brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads today to put on the car. My question is, will the pads come with the little bracket pieces that mount the disc to the caliper? Should I buy these from Honda? Thanks!

What little brackets? Pads normally come with shims if that's what you mean, or are you talking about the anti-rattle clips the pads slide in? In that case no.

 

Yeah, I knew they come with shims, I meant the clips. One of mine fell off when the brakes got all jacked up. Maybe they'll have them at my local stealership.

 

You can buy them there, you can get them aftermarket too for a lot less at an autoparts store as a kit (I've bought them before, was like $25 for the aftermarket kit for both front brakes, came from raybestos, fitment was good)
