So, I SOLD my 06' Harley when i found out I had a Little one on the way. But ive been wanting another Bike for a while... So after a little Searching and a lot of Staring... I bought a 1978 Honda CB550, Rigid Bobber. Needs a Lot of Love, But it Runs and Drive Right Nice. Check it out.. I'll try and keep the Thread updated as i go. I'll update Specs later tonight.

Isn't that the factory style for the CB550F? Anyway, looks somehow even better on that bike.

Thank you Thank you, I ordered a bunch of parts to Fix stuff, Clean stuff up, and Change the Look all at the same time. Waiting for a few more parts still.

Yea im going for more of a Bobber / Chopper Look with her instead of the Cafe Racer style, although i do like both styles!

No the Stock Exhaust would either be a 4->1 or a 2->1 on each side with mufflers. But i am gonna be redoing the Exhaust too. lol.

I have:

New Piping for my New Exhaust
New Solo Seat
New Grips
New Headlight
New Headlight Brackets (cleaner, Not Stock)
A better Cond. Kick Starter Arm
New Brake Light Sensor
And
A New Tail Light

Gotta order a couple more things and im gonna Do it all At Once

I Picked up a New Mig Welder and Bunch of New Tools to Play! lol

That's the 4-4. As I recall, the Ks came with 4-4, and the Fs came with 4-1.

Haven't had much time to work on her, put a newer motor in the ol ladys car, a bigger motor in my car, and got court appointed split custody of my son. So its been a busy couple months.

I ride a 74 CB550 as well and those pipes are so rad dude. I need to update my thread as well since I am back in the states for a bit. I did a new taillight as well, but I did not go rigid with the frame.

Got my 2 dents Smoothed out, getting everything ready for paint. Filled 6 un needed holes on the rear fender. have been cleaning the frame up for a fresh coat of Black. Fender and Tank are going Gunmetal. Bars and headlight are done. working on the harness next, gonna clean it up A LOT. I have a Good Speedo, Tach, and the Bracket on the way. Been working on it after work after my son goes to sleep at night. lol

Couple pics:

Got my New (to me) Gauges and bracket in, the wires straightened up (Mocked up, Gotta go back thru and Sodder and replace them), The Red Circle in the last picture is the last "Cluster" of wires i have to cut out. There is still plenty to do on it. I'm adding quick connects for my blinkers and tail lights, so they can be removed as needed.

Side Note: Zip Ties are for Mock Up. After I Replace and Sodder everything it'll all be heat shrunk.

Does anyone have a diagram handy they could post up?
Im missing a wire from my foot pedal Brake Sensor.

Fixed the Wiring. Gotta pick up a pack of connectors for my tail light (quick release). so i can remove the tail light and fender as needed with out having to cut the wires. Everything is Soldered and Heat shrunk. Clear Zip ties are for mock up. still gotta pull it back apart to paint the frame.

Little Bit of an Update... had the afternoon off so i played w/ the bike a bit. gotta finish up my seat mount and set my tank where i want it and shoot some holes. Frame should be ready for paint next week.

I'm Debating if i want the sissy bar or just rear fender mounts...

I made my spring mounts outta a stock honda spare tire lug wrench and 2 washers... lol. before.

Only guage you need is a speedometer and the only light you need is a taillight. Don't put the sissybar back on. Don't black it out because then it will look like all the rest of the ratted out CB bobbers out there. Handlebars should go higher. And since you were a Harley guy I have to say this......don't put any f*!king tassles on it and don't ride around with a leather jacket with tassles that tells me what kind of bike you have. That ish is so gay.

I know I only need a speedo, but I like my tach.

In Tn turn signals Are Not required, But I'd rather not get pulled over and have to prove it every time. I'm not running front signals, Only Rear signals.

Sissy bar is still up in the air...

Frame and siisy bar or rear fender mount (depending on what i decide) are going Satin Black and the Tank and Fender are going Gunmetal w/ a little house of color flake added to it... not all "Blacked out" lol.

I like it a lot!

That reminds me, I need to ask my co worker how much he wants for his CB175. He has been bugging me to buy it for a while... might be a fun project for next winter.
